In February 2019, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that, not enough is being done to recruit Children’s Social Workers in England, as it emerged one in six jobs remain vacant. There were 5,812 vacancies and this continued to grow. Skills for Care reported in February 2017 that, the turnover rate for Adult Social Workers was 16% in 2016. This was an increase on 2014 (12%) and 2015 (13%). The vacancy rate for Adult Social Workers in local authorities was 11% in 2016. This rate is similar to the rate in 2015 (12%) and higher than it was in 2014 (8%).
